CANCER

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma: enhancing erosive T2 hyperintense mass of the central skull base mass, Asian descent

Nonhodgkin lymphoma: non erosive

Chordoma of clivus: well defined w intracranial/extracranial extension

Carotid body paraganglioma: intensely enhancing ST mass splays the carotid vessels at thelevel of the bifurcation; flow voids are commonly seen

Glomus vagale paraganglioma: same as paraganglioma, differ only in location (2 cm below skull base in nasopharyngeal portion of carotid space)

Carotid space Schwannoma: avidly enhancing mass w/ or w/o intratumoral cysts. arises from vagus nerve or less commonly from sympathetic chain; displaces carotid arteries anteromedially; flow voids are typically not seen

Carotid space neurofibroma: poor enhancement; arises from vagus n or sympathetic hcain; isolated or NF1. displaces carotid vessels w/o splaying.Â
